Brethren Conference

Monday was an interesting day. It started with a hectic morning. I would not recommend you fly out of Atlanta - Hartsfield/Jackson Airport on Mondays if you can keep from it. As we were pulling in, Beth I commented on the line that was coming out the door near baggage claim. We were glad our airline was further down. After checking in quickly, Beth asked the desk agent what the line was for. She told us that it was the security line. She said it could take an hour and a half, but we could try the terminal gate check point...it might be shorter. She was right. It took 45 minutes instead. When we arrived at our gate, we were able to sit down for about 5 minutes before boarding.

After all that, we were able to arrive at conference and connect with the Northgate group. The best story of the day was when I met an older gentleman while I was checking into the hotel.

I was checking in when the gentleman, Mr Robertson I think, walked by and introduced himself to me. I told him my name and he said that he knew my father and grandfather. I was naturally surprised, but when he told me some name I had never heard, I told him that they were not my father or grandfather. He asked where I was from and when I told him Texas, he told me that he used to live in Waka, Texas and so we talked a little “Texas.” We left and went over to the conference to check in and ran into the same gentleman...turns out that he was the pastor at the Manteca church back in the 50’s. It was crazy. Someone took our picture together. After that, I think I met 3 other men who have been pastor’s at the church in Manteca.

It was an interesting day.
