"I Cross my Heart"

Last night we taught Maggie something she has never heard before. She asked me to sleep with her and so I tried to stay with her and read a book that I needed to finish at the same time. The light was too much and I decided I needed to leave in order to finish. I told her that I would come back as soon as I was finished, "I cross my heart." She was confused by that saying and so Beth told her that it means that "I promise to come back..." I left and went to read my book. About 20 pages from the end, she came out of the room and said the following... "Daddy, you can feel my heart...I promise to be a good girl, close my eyes, and go to sleep...will you come sleep with me...feel my heart!!" Needless to say, I didn't finish the last 20 pages. How can you say no to that? I felt her heart for sure!
