New Babies!

So Beth and I are still in the adoption process with the state. For the last week we have been talking to our social worker about a little girl that was born this past Christmas Eve. Tonight we received a call from the SW to talk about the baby's status. We were told that it would be a couple of weeks before everything would be clear. It was a good conversation and we were looking forward to the next couple of weeks. 10 minutes later, the SW called back and said she had just received news that the baby could be moved by the end of the week and we are on top of the list. Long story short, we have a meeting on Wednesday, and that meting could lead to the baby moving to our home on Thursday.

Her family status is still in limbo, so we are still praying that all of it would clear up and we get to adopt her...

I called this post "New Babies!," because we just added a new baby to our family yesterday. Around 10:30am on Sunday morning, I walked back over to the house to get something. When I walked around the corner of the house, I saw Maggie standing next to my truck in her socks and her mom was no where to be found. Maggie starts yelling at me about a cat under my truck. I told her it was Mickey (our current cat) and he would come out later. She insisted that it wasn't him....it was a kitten. Beth came out of the house and confirmed what Maggie was saying. The kitten had crawled up into the engine of my truck. I opened the hood and there was a 4+ month old kitten. Beth put him in the bathroom and we went to church. All during church and the drive to lunch Maggie negotiated with me terms of keeping the cat. I finally broke down and told her that she could keep the cat.

I am pretty sure that I really wasn't ever ahead in the negotiations. I guess I am a pushover when it comes to Maggie...I did tell her that if something else shows up in our yard, we were going to take it to the shelter...she agreed...but I am sure I will loose that one too!

If you need to see the cat, you can read Beth's blog...she posted pictures.
