What a crazy day!

Today I did my first funeral here in California.  Bob (a member of our church) came by this past Monday and told me that his daughter-in-law passed away.  She was only 47.  Her family has not been in church for a couple of years, so Bob asked if I could officiate the funeral.  As funerals go, it went well.  She was very loved by her family and many people attended the funeral to honor her. After I returned home, I picked up Maggie and we went to pick up the game "hungry, hungry hippos."  When we returned to the church, because we needed to move my truck back to the house.  As we exited the church, I saw a man walk up to my truck and smash the window with a golf club.  I yelled at him and asked what the heck he was doing...he just looked at me and I told him that this was my truck.  He then told me, and I quote, "I am going to go get you a new window."  As he walked away, I followed after him.  When he saw I was on the phone, he began to move faster and then ran away.  The cops showed up and took my statement.  I am sure I will see the guy again.  The people in the neighborhood who  saw him did not recognize him, so I am sure he is not from the area. There is an upside to such a crazy day.  Today I met people who I might not have met otherwise.  Several of Bob's family told me that they are going to be attending church this weekend.  I also met 2 men from the apartment complex behind the church for the first time while I was waiting for the police to show up.  So, I am can't say that I am excited about replacing my window since I most likely will not meet my deductible and have to pay for the whole thing, but all in all, I think it will make a good way to connect with some new people in the community
