Preaching Plagiarism

I was looking some different things on prison ministries on the internet because I will be speaking in 2 prisons while I am in the Philippines. You never know what you are going to get when you type a search in google. I googled prision, sermons, ministry...and got the following article. It was about priests in Poland who face jail time for plagiarizing their sermons. As a person who listens and reads a lot of sermons, I found this an interesting article. The priests were getting in trouble because they were not giving any credit to the people they had read or listened to...

As I think back, I am confident that I have given credit where it is due, but I want to be sure that I don't ever get caught in the trap of getting lazy in my preparation...and ever try to pass off a thought as my own....

In my church in Georgia, I encountered a person who was new to the church, but had been a part of similar minded churches in other cities. After the sermon one Sunday this person was very upset because they had heard a well known pastor give the same sermon earlier in the year. Needless to say, the person never came back to the church. They lost all respect for the pastor...

So, if you are interested, you can read the article here.
