The Weight(or wait) of True Faith

A.W. Tozer wrote the following and was forwarded to me by a church planting pastor friend of mine...

Pseudo faith always arranges a way out to serve in case God fails. Real faith knows only one way and gladly allows itself to be stripped of any second way or makeshift substitutes. For true faith, it is either God or total collapse. And not since Adam first stood up on earth has God failed a single man or woman who trusted Him.
The man of pseudo faith will fight for his verbal creed but refuse flatly to allow himself to get into a predicament where his future must depend upon that creed being true. He always provides himself with secondary ways of escape so he will have a way out if the roof caves in.

I wish I could say that I have lived my life and made every decision with true faith, but I know that I have created ways out a lot of times. But this time I didn't...I called the post the Weight of true faith, because I am feeling it this week. With the pending sell of our house, and the possibilities of pastoring in Florida, I am feeling the weight. Dealing with the mortgage company to get our paperwork right and then dealing with the lawyer's office to make sure they have all they need...it gets old quick. But it is bigger than that. I think what Tozer wrote is right on, but turning off my concern is something totally different. I know that God is working in our lives. The house selling is huge conformation for us. The details of that whole process are beyond most people's comprehension, so I know that God is working.

So it comes down to the waiting. I am confident that our house will close tomorrow...I am confident that God has a place for us to serve, but it doesn't have to be my timing. He could very well have the right church for us now, or this June...It is when it goes beyond my timing that I have to remember what God promises...and what Tozer says..."And not since Adam first stood up on earth has God failed a single man or woman who trusted Him."

Your heavenly Father already knows all your needs, and he will give you all you need from day to day if you live for him and make the Kingdom of God your primary concern. Matt. 6:32-33
