When Friends are Friends forever!
What a week we have had. Last week was my last week in the office. I am still in town and I will pop into the office every once in a while, but for the most part, I have completed my time at New Community Church. It culminated with my last sermon on July 1st. I have been working on some things when it comes to my presentation, so July 1st's message was different from what people were used to. Beth gave me some great feedback. She told me that I did a good job with the content but needed to work on the practical application at the end. I agreed with her. I struggled with that part the most. Overall though, I am enjoying the challenge of expanding my preaching horizons! When I get a copy, I will post it on my 'Message Download' page here.
Today I went and emptied my office of all my personal things. After it was all loaded, I sat there not quite ready to leave. I have been at NCC for 7 years 9 months exactly. I guess you just can't walk away from something that has been a part of your life for that long. Here is an interesting "Steven Cole" little known fact. I have lived in LaGrange longer (in consecutive years) than any other place after Levelland, TX. (Yes, the name of the town is Levelland...and yes...it is flat!!) I lived in Levelland for the first 9 years of my life. After that, I jumped from New Mexico back to Texas and then off to college.
My friend Alex wanted to have the tech team place "Friends are Friend Forever," or "Thank You" after my message on Sunday and I told him I would have walked out if they did, so I am naming this blog post in honor of him. I still would walk out if someone played either of those songs, but it does make a good title!!
We should hear from the church in Manteca, CA next Sunday. We will keep you posted!
